Kajaki: 10th Anniversary Screening
Posted on
On Remembrance Day 2024, we were invited to be part of an anniversary screening of the movie, Kajaki. The film is based on the events of the Kajaki Dam incident, which occurred on 6 September 2006 and involved members of 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment. Seven soldiers sustained serious injuries from mine blasts, and Cpl Mark Wright GC was killed.
This year marked 10 years since the film came out, and thanks to the team at Bedlam Productions and Pukka Films, the event at Cineworld Leicester Square managed to raise just over £2,700 for SUPPORT OUR PARAS.
The film screening was followed by a Q&A with some of the soldiers who were involved in the real incident, as well as Academy and BAFTA Award-winning Producer, Gareth Ellis-Unwin.
The film offers an important talking point about the realities of what our soldiers go through, which are so often not talked about, but have real lasting effects on so many both physically and mentally. It also highlights why our work at SUPPORT OUR PARAS is so important; we are here for our nation’s paratroopers through the good times and the bad. The Parachute Regiment is a family like no other, and we are proud to be here to support them every step of the way.
