Escape from Kabul: Book Launch and Panel Discussion with Levison Wood
Posted on
The evacuation of Kabul in August 2021 will go down in military history as one of the most unexpected events in modern times. In an eerie replay of the disastrous British retreat from Kabul in 1842, coalition troops withdrew from Afghanistan after twenty years of military campaigning. Thousands of Afghans who had worked with the allies were left to the meagre mercy of the Taliban.
Escape from Kabul is the harrowing true story of Operation Pitting and the Kabul airlift.
Join Levison Wood and Geraint Jones as they discuss their new book, Escape From Kabul: The Inside Story, drawing on a wide range of first-hand accounts.
The authors will be joined in a panel discussion by Sir Laurie Bristow, former British Ambassador to Afghanistan; Rt Hon Johnny Mercer, Minister of State for Veterans’ Affairs; Captain Aaron Nunkoosing, former adjutant 2 Para; and Zahra Joya, a prominent Afghan journalist.
Your ticket includes a copy of the book (RRP £20.00)
Proceeds from this event will be split equally between Support Our Paras and Afghan Aid.
