On the 30th of April Lieutenant Colonel Ed Rankin, Commander of Colchester Garrison’(Left) and Private Subash Moktan (Middle left), Private Suman Rai (Middle right), Warrant Officer Tirtha Limbu (Right) from 13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, stood together to showcase the Garrison Show taking place at Abbey Field, Colchester on the Saturday 29 June 2024. The soldiers of the British Army’s global response force will be the stars of a free show marking Armed Forces Day in Essex. The 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team and Colchester Garrison Show will take over Abbey Field, Colchester on Saturday 29 June to mark Armed Forces Day – the nation’s chance to show its support to the military. Building up to the dramatic finale of a combat demonstration, the event will showcase the skills and equipment of the town’s 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team, the British Army’s global response force.

We celebrated Armed Forces Day in true style this year, as part of the Colchester Garrison Show. The event, held every two years by 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team, was another great opportunity for our local community to come and celebrate our Armed Forces.

It was wonderful to be supported again this year by the Regimental ponies, Pegasus and Bruneval, as well as the team from the Airborne Museum. Whilst we may celebrate our Armed Forces every day, Armed Forces Day offers everyone the opportunity to come together and acknowledge the incredible job they do each and every day.

We also managed to catch up with the new Mayor & Mayoress of Colchester, Lesley Scott-Boutell and her daughter Jessica. We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of Lesley’s chosen charities to support during her Mayoral year. Keep an eye out for details of some exciting events we have coming up to raise funds.
